PART 1 - FAQ for E-ink Display

E-ink display cannot display images?

1. External Check: Check whether the e-ink display FPC is inserted reversely, whether the FPC socket is damaged, whether there is faulty soldering, and whether the FPC is torn. If using our development board, check whether the P3 short-circuit cap is connected and whether the RESE dial switch is selected correctly.

2. Hardware Check: Measure the voltage of PREVGH and PREVGL to see if the boost is successful. Check relevant peripheral circuits, especially the MOS tube.

3. Software Check: If boost is normal, check the software part, driver and pin definition. Test the SCL and SDA signals and confirm correctness by comparing the SPI waveform in the specification.

Are there any requirements for E-ink use environment?

It needs to be shielded from direct sunlight, with moisture-proof and waterproof measures. Operate within the temperature and humidity range specified. When not used for long periods, place upside down with screen showing all white.

What should I do when using tri-color E-ink?

The refresh interval of SPI serial tri-color E-ink should be at least 180s, especially for large sizes. Too short intervals may cause ghosting.

How to calculate E-paper DPI?

Number of pixels in 1 inch. Example: 1.54 inch resolution 152x152, AA area 27.5x27.5, DPI=152/(27.5/25.39)=140

PART 2 - FAQ for Hardware of E-Paper Display

Circuit Design

How to select the components of the drive circuit?

Input voltage is generally 2.3-3.6V (3.3V recommended). Add boost test points for maintenance. Use 10uH 1A winding inductance, Si1304BDL or Si1308EDL for MOS, schottky diode like MBR0530, and capacitors with 25V+ withstand voltage.

Development Board

Does serial port electronic paper development board support serial port communication?

Our STM32, ESP32, ESP8266 and Arduino platforms have USB-to-serial chips for direct PC connection via USB for serial operation and download.

PART 3 - FAQ for Software of E-Paper Display

Bitmap Conversion

What tools do I use to generate an array of images?

For Windows, use Image2Lcd (registration code "0000-0000-0000-0000-6A3b") or our ImageToEPD software. See specifications for usage.

E-paper Display Driver Program

What should I do if I have problems using Keil software?

Problem 1: Can't compile - Ensure Keil is correctly installed with J-link driver.

Problem 2: Keil4 project in Keil5 - Recompile the project with Keil5 first.

Problem 3: Flash download failed - Add Flash option in Keil5.

Problem 4: Original image displayed - Confirm recompilation after image update.
